DON BRADEN

Born in Cincinatti and raised in Louisville, Don Braden started playing the saxophon at age 13. Two years later he joined his first professional band. In 1981 he entered Harvard University and became a well known figure in the Bosten jazz scene. In 1984 he moved to New York and landed his first gigs with the Harper Brothers, Lonnie Smith and Betty Carter - recording with her the Grammy Award winning album "Look What I Got". With the Wynton Marsalis Quintet he toured for seven months. Between 1989 and 1991 he was a member of the Freddie Hubbard Quintet. Since then he has worked with Kenny Barron, the Mingus Big Band, Tom Harrell, JJ Johnson and many more as well as with his own groups. Braden released eight albums as a leader, the last one being "The Fire Within" for RCA Victor. He is currently the music supervisor for the Cosby TV show and leads his own band.
